Everybody remembers the day they learned to ride a bike, taking those stabilisers off for the first time and suffering several grazed knees, before the moment that it all clicks. Like a newly fledged albatross we fly off into the distance, hammering the paved streets of the neighbourhood in search of two wheeled friends.

Cycling is a favourite past time and mode of transport and enjoyed by millions across the world. None more so than the Dutch. The folk in Amsterdam have an estimated 881,000 alone and that is to a population of 799,400. A growing number of those bikes are from Vanmoof. Whereas the UK’s contribution to the cycling world comes in the form of the Mamils (middle-aged man in lycra), the contribution of the Dutch has to be the beautifully designed Vanmoof. Take a nations passion for the two wheeled mode of transport and condense it down – throw in functional yet beautiful design and bake until 2009 and you have yourself the Vanmoof.

‘WHEREAS THE UK’S CONTRIBUTION TO THE CYCLING WORLD COMES IN THE FORM OF THE MAMILS (MIDDLE-AGED MAN IN LYCRA), THE CONTRIBUTION OF THE DUTCH HAS TO BE THE BEAUTIFULLY DESIGNED VANMOOF.’

Anyway as you can probably guess they get a thumbs up from us and it was awesome to get the chance to head over to Amsterdam and meet the team at Vanmoof and see how we might be able to work with each other.

We came armed with a few concept visuals to wet the whistle and what you see in this post are the fruits of that labour. Keeping the focus on the heritage of the Vanmoof and its origins as a city bike, the visuals play heavily off this association and look to cement the idea of the Vanmoof as the ideal mode of transport within a city.

As well as the stills the guys managed to pull together a few animations and cinemagraphs. This time looking to play off the huge social following their bikes have with urban commuters.

Anyway we are extremely excited to be working with these guys and can’t wait to get stuck into a few more projects in the future. We will keep you updated.
